Q: What is the Trail Life Motto?

A: "Walk Worthy"  Colossions 1:10  "...that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God..."

Q: What is the Trail Life Oath?

A: "...On my honor, I will do my best to serve God and country; to respect authority; to be good stewards of creation; and to treat others as I want to be treated."

Q: When did Trail Life Troop PA-0019 start?

A: Troop PA-0019 was chartered on 12/31/2014 under the Forks of the Brandywine Church http://www.forkschurch.org/. Our Troop number comes from Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." 

Q: Once my son decides to join, what are the upfront costs?

A: The Trail Life USA annual registration/renewal fee is $26. The Troop PA-0019 annual membership dues are $100 and payable by August 31st each year. Troop dues will also be prorated the first year based on when your your son starts with Trail Life. Your son will also need a Trail Life Polo/Meeting shirt which costs $22-$24.

Q: Are there discounts for siblings for the Troop PA-0019 annual membership dues?

A: Yes, we discount the Troop PA-0019 annual membership dues for additional siblings. The cost is $100 for your first child, $50 for the 2nd and 3rd child, and $25 for each additional child after that.

Q: Once my son decides to join, how do I register him?

A: Let one of our Troopmaster or one of our Trail Leaders know and we will send you a Welcome email with the link to register online through Trail Life Connect (TLUSA).

Q: What Trail Life uniforms should I purchase to start?

A: Once your son decides to join, please purchase a Trail Life “Travel/Meeting Polo" shirt for troop meetings (Woodlands/Green, Navigators/Grey, Adventurers/Blue) for $22-$24. The optional (but recommended) Trail Life “Trail T-shirt” is great for our outdoor trail adventures for $12-$17.

Q: Do I need to purchase a Trail Life “formal” uniform?

A: We suggest waiting until your son has fully committed to the troop life; chat with our Troopmaster for when the time is right. We recommend that only Navigators and Adventurers purchase formal uniforms at this time. They start at $65 for a Basic formal box set.

Q: What Trail Life troop level is my son?

A: Your son's age by October 31st will determine their placement in either Woodlands ages 5-11 (grades K-5), Navigators ages 11-14 (grades 6-8), Adventurers ages 14-17 (grades 9-12).

Q: What happens when my son turns 18?

A: At age 18, your son is considered an adult and their participation in the troop as a Trailmen ends. They can continue to particpate in Trail Life as either a Registered Adult or Trail Guide or be part of the Trail Life Guidon program for ages 18-25 if one is available in our area. Q: Should I purchase a Trail Life Trailman’s Handbook for my son?

A: We provide the all Navigators/Adventurers their version of the Trail Life Trailman’s Handbook. Optionally, Woodlands Trail are encouraged to purchase the new Woodlands Trail Handbook for their son. See your Woodlands Ranger for more details.  

Q: When are troop meetings?

A: We typically have troop meetings at least twice per month on the 1st & 3rd Mondays. See Upcoming Events for next meetings. Woodlands meet from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Navigator/Adventurers meet from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm  

Q: Are Parents required to attend with their son?

A: We do require a Parent to attend for Woodland boys in K-1st grade.

Q: How can Parents participate?

A: Speak to our Troopmaster for ways you can participate as either a Registered Adult or Trail Guide to start.  All Parents are always welcome to hang around to observe the Troop meetings or to fellowship with the other Parents.
